How to Make A Gyro?

Many food lovers around the world have a great affection towards the best gyros – a popular Greek fast food. It has many qualities like alluring flavors, exclusive historical background, and affordable price ranges that make it one of the comfortable and most famous foods around the globe. Research says that this meal is served at 36,260 of 602,215 restaurants, and it is enjoyed on average 1.59 times each year.

As a gyro fan, you're probably well aware that this tasteful snack consists of well-seasoned meat (Halal meat is also used in the Muslim regions) and other fresh ingredients drizzled with yogurt sauce, all of which is wrapped in a loaf of soft pita bread. Are you familiar with the process of preparing it? Read the step-by-step instructions below to discover more about how gyros are manufactured.

Cutting and Seasoning of Meat

To start the preparation of gyro, finely slice the leg, shank, or thigh meat (beef preferably). Layer the Halal meat slices and season with a spice mixture of salt, pepper, sweet paprika, and 'rigani' (finely crushed Greek oregano) on each layer.

White wine vinegar should be sprinkled over the meat layers. Repeat the seasoning and sprinkling process until all of the meat layers are covered and seasoned evenly.

Place the Meat on Skewer

In order to keep it upright, place the skewer in a wooden base and bottom plate for the cone. Then, on the metal base plate, arrange the smaller pieces of meat. To avoid gaps between the meat and the skewer, make sure they overlap.

As the cone spreads, add bigger pieces of meat by wrapping them around the skewer or threading them over it. Remember to chop off any little bits of halal meat that are hanging out the edges. These will go in between the meat and the skewer to fill any gaps.

Meat Compression

To ensure that the meat is packed firmly, put the pressure gently on the cone of meat. Put a thin layer of oil or fat on the top of the gyro to keep the meat moist as it is being cooked and seeps down slowly into the gyro. Then place the gyro cone on a rotisserie grill.

Cook Meat

Place the cone in the upright direction on the grill and allow the meat to be grilled and cooked through slices for at least one hour. After this, it is time to prepare the perfect gyro sandwich.

Final step

Apply a thin layer of oil on the pita to start preparing the sandwich. Place the bread on a piece of butcher's paper and grill it on both sides to brown. After that, sprinkle it with tzatziki, a thick and creamy Greek yogurt, add slices of tomatoes and onions, then use electric cutters or a knife to slice extremely thin strips of gyro meat. Place a substantial amount of meat on the sandwich.

Add some fries to finish it off. Wrap the sandwich in butcher's paper from top to bottom. Finally, your traditional gyro sandwich is ready to devour!
